Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
