Severe Downpours Worsen Circumstances for Evacuated Palestinians in Gaza, UN Caution

Intense rains over the past week have compounded the precarious situation of the vast number of uprooted residents in the region, according to aid groups.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Severe Threats

A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with precipitation so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the terrain.

"Last night was really difficult for the families. The storms were so intense... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the representative.

Officials express extreme anxiety that minors sheltering in tents in soaked attire will contract hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Deaths and Extensive Damage

Medical officials have reported that one baby has succumbed from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses due to the severe weather.

Other reports put a increased death toll. Officials stated that numerous structures had fully given way and dozens had been partly destroyed.
